Product Description

The Unitree R1 is Unitree Robotics' most accessible full humanoid robot — a compact, agile, and highly capable bipedal platform standing 1.21 m tall and weighing approximately 25 kg. Designed for education, research, and developer use, the R1 combines expressive whole-body locomotion with integrated multimodal AI in a lightweight, customisable frame.

The R1 can walk, run, cartwheel, perform handstands, and recover from pushes — all driven by low-inertia permanent magnet synchronous motors across each joint. An integrated Large Multimodal Model (LMM) enables voice recognition, image understanding, and gesture-based interaction without cloud dependency. The fully open SDK and ROS 2 support make it ideal for algorithm development, reinforcement learning research, and AI embodiment work.

Available in seven configurations, from demonstration-ready to full dexterous manipulation research:

  • Basic — 24 DOF, pre-programmed routines, no secondary development
  • U1 (EDU Standard) — 24 DOF, 40 TOPS compute, full developer programming
  • U2 (EDU Smart) — 26 DOF (adds 2-DOF head), 100 TOPS NVIDIA Jetson Orin
  • U3 (EDU Pro A) — 40 DOF, adds dual Dex3-1 three-finger dexterous hands (7 DOF each, no tactile)
  • U4 (EDU Pro B) — 40 DOF, Dex3-1 hands upgraded with 33 tactile sensors per hand
  • U5 (EDU Pro C) — 38 DOF, dual BrainCo Revo 2 Basic five-finger dexterous hands
